THE RIDE – Part Tour, Part Show, Total Entertainment in NYC

If you have been in the Manhattan area of NYC anytime recently, you may have noticed THE RIDE. This is a part tour, part show, and total entertainment attraction. My husband and I were in NYC for an anniversary getaway, and we had the privilege of experiencing THE RIDE.

THE RIDE is a multi-million dollar tricked out motor coach complete with stadium-style seating that faces one side of the street, state of the art audio and visual technology, 3000 LED lights, 40 plasma TV screens and more. The seating on this bus is really great as no matter where you are seated; you will have an excellent view of the city thanks to the windows from the floor and the whole way across the ceiling.

Our hosts, Scott and Jackie made sure everyone was seated comfortably, “buckled” in and ready for THE RIDE. Not only were these two tour guides but they were also comedians and MC’s as well. Their jokes, humor and insight about all things related to NYC was what made our tour one of a kind.  All RIDE hosts are trained in improvisation so that each performance is fresh depending on what’s happening on the street that day.

During our tour, we got to see Times Square, Byrant Park, the Empire State Building, Carnegie Hall and many other attractions in the 75 minutes we were aboard the bus. The very coolest part about this tour was the ensemble of actors, singers, instrumentalists and others who delighted us in pop-up presentations all along the route. My most favorite act was a beautiful lady in an awesome lighted ballet gown dancing around the Columbus Circle fountain as subtle piano music played. It was just about dusk as this all took place and the lights, dancing and music made this “act” my favorite part of the show.

While navigating a 4.2-mile midtown path, the performers, and native New Yorkers alike become performers for THE RIDE, showing guests an entirely new side of New York City they can’t see anywhere else.
