Giant shoppers, did you notice the Gas Reward Points are back? This is super exciting as I really did miss the gas deals and I’m hoping they continue to offer them. I basically stopped shopping at Giant when they discontinued the the gas rewards and I missed shopping there but as long as they have deals like this I’ll be back each week.
The 51 items in this picture have a shelf price of $134.78. After sales, coupons, SavingStar rebates and instant savings my total was $51.10. I then earned 1670 gas rewards points which on a 30 gallon fill up is $50.10 of fuel. So the way I look at this I paid only $1 for all these groceries!!
Would you like to score the same deals? Here are the deals I did. All gas reward deals are figured on a 30 gallon fill up. Please figure accordingly if you are purchasing less than 30 gallons.
Also I used the “Spend $50 Receive 300 Additional Gas Points” coupon found in the Sunday papers Giant flier. This coupon gave me an additional $9 in gas points. My receipt said I earned an additional 80 points by purchasing 5x items. I’m not sure what items I bought that were part of that category.

Lydia says
That’s impressive, Esther! I still haven’t really done the gas deals. Neither of our vehicles have anywhere near a 30 gal. tank and so it just doesn’t seem worth it most of the time. Plus I haven’t been sure how to figure it with our grocery budget.

Lydia, neither of our vehicles hold 30 gallons either but did you know you can take gas cans along to reach the 30 gallons. We then use that gas in the lawn mower or even put it the vehicle. As far as the budget goes what I would suggest is if you shop at Giant and use your grocery money to pay and your bill is say $60 and you get $50 back in fuel rewards then pull $50 out of your gas budget envelope and put it back in the grocery enevelope (or maybe you don’t do the envelope system but you get the idea). I view it as 2 for the price of one or I say I got the groceries for free cause fuel is something I need to buy regardless. Does that make sense?
