The beautiful American Music Theatre is located in Lancaster, PA right along Route 30. This large theater seats 1,600 and every seat comes with a great view. My husband and I recently had the opportunity to attend the all-new Broadway: Now & Forever original show. This live musical show features beautiful vocal harmonies, outstanding dancing, a wonderfully talented orchestra, stunning costumes, and incredible sets on the stage.
Act 1 of this show represents the “now” of Broadway and started out with “The Show Must Go On”. It also included songs from Mamma Mia, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Jersey Boys, Spider-Man and more. Not only did the vocalists do a superb job with songs like “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, “Dancing Queen”, “Sherry” and many other great songs but the dancers were pretty awesome and they definitely put their all into it.
It would be very hard for me to figure out my favorite songs from this half but at the top of the list would be “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Circle of Life”. This half also included Mary Poppins complete with songs like “Chim Chim Cherree” and “A Spoonful of Sugar”. At the end Mary even “flew” away with her umbrella. The kids who were playing “Jane” and “Michael” were so cute and did a fabulous job.
Act 2 was the “forever” part of the show and included classics and blockbusters such as Chicago, Annie and Les Miserables. I would have to say that the Annie part was pretty awesome. The kids in “Little Girls” were so lovable and played their parts so well.
This act included songs such as “All That Jazz”, “Any Dream Will Do”, “CATS”, “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” and “The Phantom of the Opera”. The Les Miserables was also in this act of the show and included “Master of the House” plus four other great songs.
I want to give a shout out to all the great staff who work at the theater. The concession workers, parking attendants and ushers were all so friendly and helpful. I must also mention parking is free and located around the building so no walking a mile to and from the car. Also exiting the parking lot after the show was easy without a long wait.
