I am very excited to be part of this Pay It Forward Back To School Backpack event. I was given $25 to purchase a back pack and school supplies to donate to someone in need. At our household, I really, really try to teach my kids that giving is better than getting and this was another great opportunity for them to practice their giving.
We wanted to find a kid who really needed school supplies so I posted in a local Facebook group and found three boys at a local shelter who were in need of school things. The boys were all in Kindergarten through second grade and one of them already had his backpack. In the younger grades it seems the list of supplies isn’t very long so we decided to try to stretch the $25 to buy enough for all three of the kids.
It was special to take my kids along to help pick out the backpacks and supplies. My little shoppers were excited to send some kids to school with things they needed.
Our first stop was at Toys R Us where you can score a free lunch box with each backpack purchase. Thanks to a gift card we already had, we were able to get 2 backpacks and 2 lunchboxes for only $14.99. We then headed to Target and Walmart for the rest of the items on the list and where able to get the supplies for $12.00. This brought our total to $26.99 for all the items pictured! We were happy that we could purchase these things and hope they will be a special blessing to the kids who receive them.
