I was so sad to see all the damage that happened this week in Oklahoma from the tornado. Such damage is so devastating. One of my fellow bloggers at Coupon Closet is local to the area hit and has put together a nice list of places that are accepting donations.
Please, use good judgement about where you send your money. Unfortunately there’s always someone looking to capitalize on a tragedy like this. The American Red Cross is always a valid place to donate.
Couponers, we can help by donating from our stockpiles. This is a great way to pay it forward and the feeling from helping those in need is one of the best feelings. One of the things we are really trying to teach our kids is that is is so much better to give things than to get things for themselves. We found a location close to us that was collecting donations for those affected by the tornado and this was the perfect chance to have the kids help in collecting things to give.
The things in the picture above were what we were able to donate. I’m not showing you this picture to brag but rather to show you how great coupons really are. Almost everything in the picture were items I got for free or even a moneymaker. Total I spent probably less than $5 for everything and that includes 3 packs of Pull-Ups! Thanks to the CVS Pull-Ups deal and the $5/$15 coupon they emailed my this week, I was able to score 3 packs for only $3 and diapers were one of the items on the list of donations they were looking for. What items from your stockpile can you donate?
If you are a local Lancaster/Central PA reader, 101.1 The Rose has partnered with Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill and this Sunday May 26, they will have a Coach bus parked in the Roherstown location parking lot to accept donations that will go to Moore, OK on Monday. Read more here. Raid your stockpiles and try to help!
Monetary Donations:
You can donate any monetary donations via THIS website. This is the United Methodist Church and the money will go directly to those affected.
